I like the analogy of two boats both filling with water.
In the first boat, the guy is panicking and using a bucket to try to get rid of the water while more is coming in, and he’s slowly sinking.
In the second boat, the guy is just sat still while the boat is sinking, taking the time to think about the problem and a solution. Trying to identify where the water is coming in and looking at the resources he has available to plug the hole.
Obviously, the second boat will get fixed while the first boat is using all available energy.
