How do you explain what you do?

Service-based business owners have a unique challenge as their offering can be quite fluid.  But that often makes it hard to communicate and, therefore, hard for the client to understand. 

So how to overcome this?  Think about ‘productising’ your service.  

What I mean by this is packaging it up in a way that sounds like a product.  Here are some pointers... 

A great way to think about this would be if you were to create a label for your service.  

What’s it called? 

Who is it for? 

What’s the problem you solve? 

What are the key deliverables? 

What are the expected outcomes? 

What makes it different? 

What’s the price?  (You may wish to share this ahead of time or keep for a discussion, but at least be clear.) 

What are your credentials? 

If you take this label to the next level and create a PDF, you can use this as a one-pager to explain things better to your client.
