Stress and Overwhelm

We've just finished running a content session for our BBB members and the subject was Stress and Overwhelm

How do we spot stress and overwhelm when we don't even know we're in it? It's not necessarily a set of emotions that we can identify or connect with. We may not see it's happening until it’s too late and we've got an emotional or physical manifestation of it, like not sleeping, for example.  

And George Swift pointed out that to understand when we’re overwhelmed and stressed, we must have a model of what good looks like. I thought about that for a second and then I asked myself what my model of good looks like - do I even know what that looks like?  

In many cases, good just means not shit.  

In today's crazy climate, we're wanting to move away from the crap. We move away from the difficulty, the struggle, as best we can and we end up in a place that isn't good - it's far from good - it's just not shit. And we're kind of okay with that.  

What we end up doing is maintaining that place where it's neither truly shit nor truly good. It's kind of a middle ground.  

It’s really made me think about our need to get back to what is good.  

We need to reset our steady-state and acknowledge what good really feels like.
