When you shop in either of these stores you get very different experiences.
When I go to Curry’s I'm looking for a specific product and ignore everything else in there.
If I go in to pick up a hoover, I’m not going to spend my time browsing the TVs.
At an Apple store, you walk in and have a browse.
It all goes together well - the design, the products – it all looks like it belongs together.
It’s designed for one particular type of customer.
Now, take a look at your shopfront.
Do you have products designed for a particular person that all fit together? Or is there lots of different things for different people?
In small service-based businesses, it doesn’t make sense to do all kinds of different things and miss out on the sale.
It’s much better to have a single customer in mind and then tailor your services to that specific customer, rather than offering random products, that don’t complement each other, to random clients.
