I also was a no show for an important meeting.
Ghosting and not showing up is a thing at the moment. I'm actually writing this as I'm waiting for someone to show up to a scheduled call....
It's really annoying and it's hard not to take it personally, especially when it's a client who's business you really need or want.
My advice though is to always assume the best. My sales team are used to a call at 2pm and this one was at 1pm. It was a simple mistake and not remotely deliberate. They were of course gutted when they realised. How we laughed....
My no show (which I never do by the way) was because I'd booked a call in my holiday, had a major family crisis, and it went out of my head. Because I was off all my usual reminders were switched off. I was mortified and contacted them straight away, but alas, the damage was done...
We are being pulled from pillar to post trying to navigate these crazy times. People are overwhelmed, avoiding conflict, forgetful. Always assume that someone has a crisis or a valid reason for a no show and you'll handle it in a much more professional and calm way.
Just a little thought.... whilst I sit on Zoom.... in silence...
