It's not my favourite programme, but George loves it. So I watch it with him and it's SAS: Who Dares Wins. It's a pretty gruelling test of mental and physical resilience to see who would make it into the special forces.
Whilst it's pretty extreme, it is a reflection of the entrepreneurial journey because the entrepreneurial journey also requires some pretty extreme physical and mental resilience. Not quite as extreme as this program, but nevertheless, it does require physical and mental resilience. And if you've been running your business for any length of time, you will most definitely know that.
A lot of the participants turn up with some deep-rooted issues and adversities that they're looking to overcome. And the journey, just like the entrepreneurial journey, really takes and reflects those. There's really no getting away from those things when they're on this journey.
I'm a bit of an Ant Middleton fan girl, I’ve got to be honest. That is my kind of guy all day long. But he said something really profound that really resonated with me. And what he said is, "Often insecurities and doubts are seen as weakness, but it's what you do with them. Use them as fuel to be the best version of yourself." And I loved it.
I just love that because what it does, it takes us from being a victim of the challenges and adversities that we faced into empowerment, into leveraging the gifts that those things bring to fuel us forward in our life.
We've all got shit, every single one of us. And I love the premise that we can leverage it to help us be the best version of ourself to create the best version of the life that we can whilst we're here. I know I've definitely used mine to fuel my journey. But how have you used yours?
