How can you productise your service? I think service-based businesses have a challenge that product businesses don't, and that is that their service is really quite intangible.
It can often be quite fluid. It's often quite difficult to explain to a client, and it makes it really challenging for us to present services in a way that is easy for clients to consume.
Sarah Sangster reminded me of this in a session that we ran with her last week, and we are urging members to really think about this at the moment.
How can you productise your service?
Now what I mean by that is how can you package it up in a way that is much more like a product?
How can you create a really easy reference point for them to understand exactly what it is that you're going to do?
How can you outline the expectations and the deliverables so they can understand what the expectations are?
And then, last but by no means least, how can you create a graphic that really allows them to see what it is that they're getting, so they can almost pick it off the shelf, just like you would a product?
We're currently working with Emma Humphrey and Annie Hall to do this for our own products. But I urge you to really think about how you can package it up in a way that makes your service much more product-like.
